The tail lift’s rated capacity may also depend on how far the load’s center is positioned from the vehicle. A load near the platform edge can create a larger moment than the same load close to the vehicle body.
Feet, hands, and other body parts must remain clear of the platform, vehicle body, hinges, and ground-contact zones.
Unstable pallets, uncontrolled roll cages, and wheeled equipment can move as the platform tilts or changes level.
Roadside unloading requires traffic control and a protected operating area.
The vehicle should be parked according to site procedure. The platform must not be operated where vehicle movement or unstable ground can affect it.
Controls should be secured when the equipment is unattended.
Training should include supervised operation, not only classroom information. The trainee should demonstrate inspection, platform deployment, load positioning, raising, lowering, unloading, stowing, and response to a simulated fault.
Records should identify the operator, equipment type, date, trainer, assessment result, and refresher requirements.
