A power pallet truck is a motorized material handling machine used to lift pallets slightly above the floor and transport them within warehouses, factories, distribution centers, supermarkets, and loading areas. It is also commonly called an electric pallet truck, powered pallet jack, or electric pallet jack.

The battery life of an electric pallet truck cannot be expressed as one universal number. Battery performance has two different meanings: operating time per charge and total battery service life. Both are influenced by battery chemistry, capacity, load weight, travel distance, floor conditions, charging habits, temperature, and the intensity of each shift.

A pallet jack and a pallet stacker are both designed to move palletized goods, but they perform different jobs. A pallet jack is primarily used for horizontal transport at floor level, while a pallet stacker can lift pallets to greater heights for stacking, shelving, and production-line feeding.

Truck tail lifts commonly have rated capacities ranging from approximately 500 kg to 3,000 kg, while specialized equipment may fall outside this range. The usable capacity of a specific tail lift is the value shown on its identification plate and load chart, subject to the permitted load-center position.

A truck tail lift may cost from several thousand dollars to well above ten thousand dollars when equipment, customization, installation, electrical work, chassis reinforcement, delivery, and certification are included.

A tail lift is a hydraulic or electro-hydraulic platform mounted at the rear or side of a commercial vehicle. It is used to transfer cargo between ground level and the truck’s loading floor when a loading dock, forklift, or fixed lifting system is unavailable.

To lift heavy objects safely, first determine the weight and route, eliminate unnecessary manual lifting, and use correctly rated equipment whenever the load is bulky, unstable, repetitive, or beyond comfortable control.

A box truck may carry approximately 4 to 14 standard pallets depending on its body length. A 16-foot truck often carries around six 48 × 40-inch pallets, while a 26-foot box truck may accommodate approximately 12 to 14.

A 53-foot dry van commonly fits 26 standard 48 × 40-inch pallets in a conventional two-across layout. Alternative orientations may create up to 28 or 30 theoretical pallet positions in some trailers, but internal dimensions, pallet tolerances, cargo weight, axle limits, and unloading access determine the usable number.

Using a pallet truck safely involves inspecting the equipment, confirming the load weight, inserting the forks completely, raising the pallet only enough to clear the floor, moving at a controlled speed, and lowering it in a stable destination area.

A manual pallet truck commonly weighs approximately 60 to 100 kg, while heavy-duty, high-lift, weighing-scale, and electric models can weigh substantially more. The exact pallet truck weight depends on its rated capacity, fork dimensions, frame thickness, hydraulic structure, battery, motor, scale system, and wheel configuration.
